Press Now

Dutch foundation based in Amsterdam, has been supporting independent media in the region of former Yugoslavia since its establishment in 1993. The initiative for its establishment came from several small Dutch aid organizations, supported by the Dutch Journalists Association and the centre for political and cultural activities "De Balie". At present Press Now supports over 100 projects throughout Eastern Europe and the Balkans with funds provided by the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs, other international organizations and western governments as well as private contributors.

Media Development Loan Fund

Media Development Loan Fund, Inc. (MDLF), a 501(c)(3) public charity founded in 1995, is dedicated to ssisting premier independent news outlets in emerging democracies develop into sustainable media companies. In each country here it works, MDLF identifies a small number of media institutions that are commercial enterprises with a set of professional values (including ethical journalism) and strong management. It then provides them with the capital and management know-how they need to develop into commercially competitive news organizations, and to serve as strong and stable pillars for the democracies that are taking shape within their respective countries.
MDLF's work is focused on helping quality independent journalists with the business of providing news. Its clients include TV and radio broadcasters, newspapers, magazines, news agencies and on-line media spread across Eastern Europe, the former Yugoslavia, the former Soviet Union, Asia, Africa and Latin America. MDLF clients are among their countries' most highly respected journalistic institutions, widely recognized for providing the sort of objective and reliable news and information essential for democratic change and economic development.
