MISSION STATEMENT
|
| RTV NISAVA is the first Roma electronic media in Yugoslavia, founded by Roma Association BAHTALO DROM in 2000. Over 100.000 Roma from the covered region got, for the first time, opportunity to have radio and TV program in their own language and devoted to their community. The basic idea is to inform, educate and promote the Roma minority in Serbia and we consider that only Roma media can do this in the right way. |
The most important goals of RTV NIŠAVA are as follows:
- Emancipation and integration of the Roma minority into society as a whole
- Informing the Roma minority in south and south-east Serbia in their native language and on questions the most relevant for them
- Preserving and presenting the Roma culture, tradition and language
- Overcoming stereotypes about the Roma
- Improving social position of the Roma minority in the society in general
- Increasing self-awareness and improving self-determination of the Roma minority
- Promotion of the multi-ethnical society
- Strengthening the reliance among ethnic communities upon one another
- Promotion of the multi-ethnicity with specific characteristics of the region
|
Editorial policy is independent of any political party but under strong influence of the Roma and non-Roma NGOs from Serbia, especially from the covered region. All their activities and campaigns are regularly presented within many radio and TV programs. In general, over 30 minutes per day are devoted to their activities.
Official influence of the Roma NGO activists reflects through their membership in Program Council and Assembly of the Association but their unofficial advices and demands are always considered very seriously, too.
RTV NISAVA is planned to be the center of informing and emancipation of the Roma community in south and south-east Serbia and the most important institution for cooperation and program exchange with the Roma NGOs and Roma media from neighboring countries. |
